July 2009 Featured Books from Chicago Publishers

e’ve trimmed our list this July down to just five, but trust us, all five are fabulous. There seems to be a lot of fantastic poetry coming out this year, especially from Dancing Girl Press. The University of Chicago Press always comes through with hearty nonfiction books that remind me of my college years, and it’s always good to branch out to translated literature from trusty presses like Dalkey Archive.
I recommend beach reading. Look intellectual while you support your local publishing industry and your tan–while wearing sunscreen, of course.
